Spring Semester 2008 Events

January 23, 2008

Hello everyone!

Welcome to spring semester 2008.  I hope all your classes are going well for you so far.  I am emailing you today to let you know about the exciting events that are scheduled to be presented by the EHHS Doctoral Forum Group this semester.  We are very excited about the speakers we have scheduled to present to you this semester.  The purpose of this email today is to help you plan your calendar for these events.  The schedule of events is as follows:

February 2, 2008  Dr. J. David Keller will be presenting a talk titled “Searchees and Searchers: The Search and Interview Process in Universities” on interviewing from the faculty perspective in the Read Room in White Hall (9:30 am- 11:30 am)

March 7, 2008 Fifth Annual Educational Research Exchange Conference in Moulton Hall 8:00 am-4:00 pm.  See http://www.ehhs.kent.edu/ere08/registration.htm to register.  This conference is an excellent place for doctoral students to present their research and the coordinators of the conference would be excited to have you present your research to date.  The due date for proposals for papers and presentations has been extended to February 1, 2008.  See: http://www.ehhs.kent.edu/ere08/documents/Call%20for%20Proposal%20(2008).doc for a call for proposals.

See: http://www.ehhs.kent.edu/ere08/documents/submissionform(2008).doc for proposal submission form.

Send proposals to ere2008.kent@gmail.com

This is an exciting way to present your research and learn of other graduate student research as well.

We hope to see you there!

April 5, 2008 Dr. James Henderson will present a talk titled “Four Curriculum Arts: From Conception to Practice to Publication” from 9:00am-11:00 am in the Read Room in White Hall.

May 3, 2008 Diane Craig will present a talk on Curriculum Leadership in the Read Room in White Hall from 9:00am-11:00 am.

Please email Lisa Bircher at lbircher@kent.edu or Sandra Pech at spech@kent.edu if you have further questions or would like to register for the events in February, April or May.  All these events are open to you for free.  The ERE Conference in March has a fee of $10.00 by 2-8-08 and $20.00 after 2-8-08.  Please visit the website listed above to register for that event.

We look forward to your participation in these events and will be excited to have you in attendance.  The speakers will also be excited to present their important scholarly ideas to you.
